Flipping Virtual Pages

This is the February recap and as you can tell from this post's title, I've pretty much been existing solely on e-books. I miss going to the real library with its stuffy, musty smell and running my fingers over the book spines in their tidy rows, but there hasn't been much time this month because of a lot of school-related and weather-related stuff. So ebooks it is! Guys. I'm not going to pass up an opportunity to read.

Ever.

Here's where I tell you that I haven't read as many books as I did in January and looking back I must have been reading freakishly lots and freakishly fast. I'm still going to babble about the books I've read this month though. You cannot escape. Mwahahaha.

How many books did I read in February?
12. Eight YA novels, two adult, and two middle-grade to YA crossovers.

Favorite?
I'm going to say Dust Girl (by Sarah Zettel) just because I've been reading so much dystopian lately and it was a very unique fantasy. It was very fresh. So it stood out not only because of the amazing writing (which it had) but also because of the extremely creative ideas the author put into it.

Least favorite?
Probably Valley of Dreams by Lauraine Snelling because of the extremely slow pacing of the plot. It was a 352-page book and nothing every happened.

Favorite cover(s)?
Protection for Hire (by Camy Tang) and Shatter Me (by Tahereh Mafi) probably. There are a few other really scrumptious covers but it might be a little too much to choose four favorites out of thirteen covers.

Least favorite cover(s)?
Princess for Hire and Valley of Dreams. Princess for Hire because that is way too much pink. Ew. And Valley of Dreams because it's very cliche for Christian historical romance.

Longest book?
406 pages (A Darkness Strange and Lovely, if you were wondering.)

Bonus Question: Who was my favorite villain?
I used to be the type of person who automatically hated the bad guy no matter what because...he was bad. Now it's more of a gray area for me.

So I'd say Loki. Oops, wait. Darn it. (I watched Thor: The Dark World a couple days ago. There will be a post. It was freaking amazing!!!!) My favorite villain(s) was in Ink by Amanda Sun. The villains here are the ancient gods. And they're my favorite because they are so unpredictable and pretty much invisible.

Memorable Moments:
  • Finding out that Not a Drop to Drink has a sequel coming out and collapsing in joy. (It makes sense. Really.)
  • Talking with my sister about how covers should really not come in all pink.
  • Seeing a book called Blood and Chocolate and immediately thinking of Cait from Notebook Sisters. (In a totally nice way of course)
  • Finally buying Court Duel (eek!) which I have been wanting to read for ages.
  • Fangirling when I saw movie trailers end-to-end of Divergent and Catching Fire.
  • Fangirling more over the ending (actually the whole movie) of Ender's Game. IT. WAS. EPIC.
  • Participating in a Read & Review on Goodreads.
  • Hitting ten followers!
  • Almost going insane from the tap, tap, tapping in Mind Games. It (and other things in the writing) distracted me so much that I could barely concentrate on the plot and characters and finishing.
  • Making a twitter account for Life of a Random.
  • Planning for new and fun additions to Life of a Random.
  • Getting Divergent and The Raven Boys as birthday gifts from my sister!! (Have I mentioned that I love my sister?) I haven't read The Raven Boys yet and I can't wait to snuggle in some cozy corner and dig in.
My lovelies.

Also, you may or may not know about the Waiting on Wednesday meme that lots of bloggers love to participate in. I have done it a grand total of two times (I'm a pro). But this time (referring to the WoW February 26th) I decided to visit every link on Breaking the Spine's WoW post. It might have been before I saw that there were 268.

Yeah.

But I'm in the process of doing it (Slowly. Very slowly.)! And I'm never doing it again.

  1. Oh gosh, you are a lot like me. ;) I do that for Stacking the Shelves. After the first 100 you go a little completely absolutely NUTS. But it's fun. (I don't do it every week because MIND EXPLOSIONS.) Also, hehe, I thought of me too at Blood and Chocolate. That totally sounds like something I would write.

    1. Yay! Somebody's the same amount of crazy as me :D Yes, bonkers. Guess that proves we're the best people, huh? ;)

It is fun, despite my complaining. Haha, I thought you would find that book title funny.
