2020 End of the Year Book Tag

Image
Hello from the Abyss known as the Year 2020! I haven't written on this blog in so long that I don't know if I even remember how to blog properly. This has been such a year filled with awful things...the presidential race, the pandemic, plus the yearly entrances of anxiety and depression and all that low mental health bar stuff...that I wanted to take a minute to focus on something else and talk about books. I wasn't tagged for this so feel free to grab questions from here for your own tag post (this tag was created by Ariel Bissett ).  Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish? / Do you have an autumnal book to help transition into the end of the year?     There are several! The norm for me this year is that if I didn't finish reading a book in 1 or 2 days, I didn't end up finishing it at all. I really want to finish reading Serpent & Dove , Rules for Being a Girl , and Steel Tide . Just because I hate taking things off my Goodreads ...

HAPPY BLOGOVERSARY TO MOI | Part I

Image
I am three!! Well, not me, but this blog. Life of a Random is THREE YEARS OLD. Already. Gosh time has passed so fast, and I have loved every minute. What does this mean?? It means talking about how this blog was born (pretty much void of flair tbh), cool graphics, and *regal pause* GIVEAWAYS. YEAH. MULTIPLE ONES. No, actually it's super boring. Probably the most boring, not-interesting blog origin story ever. And here it is: One day I woke up. It was a regular day. Nothing really happening. And I made a blog. Please pause to take this in. Tadah! Okaaay well it might have been a little more complex than that but I'm not lying when I say that's the basic story. The longer, extended version is this: I had already been reading a lot of blogs and learning about the community (but not the YA community yet) so I knew about it and thought it was super cool. I also really wanted/needed an outlet for my thoughts that I knew people could read. I wanted...

HI E'ERBODY

Image
I'm baaaack. WOOP. Actually, I've been done with school for a week but I've still stayed busy with moving out of my apartment for the summer, trying to fit all my stuff back  into my parents' house (impossible. it's impossible. we have like three couches and a bed in our living room), and getting some much-needed R&R.  But never fear, I'm going to be blogging regularly again. I'm super sorry for the rocky blogging since I started college. I still need to figure out a rhythm and a niche that suits my new busier schedule I guess :(  (I'm super happy with how long I was able to blog pretty regularly throughout this semester though) Again, regular posts are coming... this is just a HEY LOOK I'M ALIVE AND IT'S SUMMER. It's a wonder I'm still alive with all the amazing Kpop music videos that have been released one. after. the other. Like um yes, I do enjoy watching Hoshi performing with his serious face thank you.  So, ...

It's a Random Day (Filled with Pizza)

Image
I kind of dropped the ball last week and forgot to do a post that couldn't be scheduled (had to be written the day of ), thus kind of ruining my perfect posting schedule this semester. Since I was planning on writing a book review for this post and since I do not have a book review written because I haven't read a whole book in over a month, I'm just kind of doing a spontaneous idea/post/thing.  It actually feels nice after not doing it for so long. :) I guess what I'm going to do is... just talk about my day.  Maybe do a list about something. Who knows? (which is actually Monday, not Tuesday...so yeah kinda scheduling but whatevs) >>> I had my Honors American History 2 class this morning. My professor was a little dazed and confused because Monday (what other explanation does anyone need). We learned about some guy's principles of country hierarchy. Fun times.  >>> I walked back from class with this cool dude from ...

Survey time!

Image
This is just a quick interlude in the regular blogging schedule to give you all a survey which I really, really  hope you all will take a few minutes to finish. It only has nine questions and it won't take a lot of your time. :) It just asks for blog followers' opinions on different things like blog posts or social media. Create your own user feedback survey

Popping In

Image
Hey guys. I'm tired. Like want-fall-on-my-face-and-sleep-for-nine-years tired. It's a problem. Like right now? I'm supposed to be studying for my History midterm that's happening tomorrow. My brain doesn't want to concentrate. Nghhhhh. I need winter break. Also I'm fighting a potential cold/sore throat and it sucks. Okay, okay, that's all I'm going to complain about. (For now). Hopefully, I can come back with some blog posts before finals hit and destroy me. Then winter break will come (PRAISE) and I will make myself blog and do productive things. On a side note, if any of you are looking for a K-drama to watch, go watch Sassy Go Go (aka Cheer Up! but there is no other name than Sassy Go Go in my eyes). It will drown you in bittersweetness. And feels. Just go watch it. There will be no regrets. (Also, thank you Ely for all the awesome recs. How do you get my taste in dramas so well? XD) I better save some things to say about it in ...

It's a Random Day {3}

Image
(So, if you didn't read my intro post about the above meme-y looking thing, it's something that I made to cover all the random days I feel like talking about my life and blabbering about songs and weather and things. It's probably not original but the image is, so if you want to use it please credit me. :) ) I'm finally back to posting semi-regularly! Three cheers for me *grins* It's been a while since I posted one of my random, long-winded "me" posts, so I thought I'd bring you up to speed on what I've been doing and how things are going. Songs I've Been Listening To: Party Rock  by Boys Republic. This is the perfect song to jam out to. It has an awesome beat and is THE summer song. It's on replay all  the time.  Go Away by 2NE1. Also has a good beat (I love my beats man). Girl power all the way.  Fill Me In  by Austin Mahone ft. Pia Mia. This one's just so mellow and I love both their voices.  Weather ...

Yo Ho It's a Pirate's Life for Me

Image
Hey guys, so here's the thing: I know I've been an awful blogger lately. Aka no posts whatsoever for a very long time. I'm SUPER busy as it's finals time for me, and before that I was trying to cope with having three studio classes at the same time. I've finished my final project for Drawing 1-- a still life that was a representative portrait of my sister. :) The only thing left for me to do is present it. I'm so excited. Feel the excitement burning through my veins. I took my last Music Appreciation exam today and I'm so nervous about it because I've been stressed and caught something that really felt like the flu (and I still am sick actually) so I didn't get a lot of time to study for it. Of course, I still have a presentation for this class, which includes playing the piano. I regretted my decision like five minutes after I made it but I thought it would be a good life experience. -_- And my two design classes. For one of t...

Randomly Kpoppin' and Recovering from an Evil Called School

Image
So guys. So. I have just finished two major things that I had  to get done by this morning for school. I didn't sleep many hours last night which is very sad. But now I feel much better with the weight of all that stress lifting up (okay, okay. Semi-lifting up. We all know I won't completely stop stressing as long as I'm going to classes). I HAVE CONQUERED. Okay, but what this post is really about is that I'm going to be starting a thing  called "It's a Random Day" (because everything must be random because this is life of a random). It's basically the kind of post I can write any day if I have free time because as I said, not much of that floating around right now. It'll be the kind of post that's my favorite to read on other people's blogs-- I'll write about my day or maybe just a quote I loved on pinterest (or Kpop gifs. All the Kpop Gifs)  or the songs I'm listening to and the projects I'm working on. On a side note...

Big Plans (Cue Evil Laugh)

Image
Hey guys! So I have been catching up on sleep and food and other essential things these last few days. FIRST DAYS OF WINTER BREAK. Excuse me while I do a happy dance. That is like one of the only  best things about college that I completely support. But I say that it's deserved because what the heck is a two day long fall break? Okay. I'll stop hating on the system. ;) (For now.) My main purpose right now is to give you a game plan on the future of Life of a Random . This last semester I didn't have any idea how to incorporate blogging into my busy life but that doesn't mean I want to quit at all. It means I'm going to find a way to do blogging anyway. *grins* 1. You can expect regular discussions, reviews, or link-ups starting this next week or sooner. 2. I have LOADS of books to read-- ones I've bought, ones for review, physical ones, e-ARCs. Everything. I'm also planning many trips to the library so: reviews! That also means I'll be pre-writin...

Sunday Swoons | Roses are Red...You are Creepy

Image
The image below was placed there because I like it. It's pretty. Also, the quote is a necessity, I think, in any relationship. source @freegreatimages.com I'm so sorry that I have been very absent from the blog, but college is proving to be very challenging. I've got something due every week it feels like and when I have free time I'd usually rather spend it wasting my time listening to kpop or watching funny vlogs. Which, of course, is very un-bloggerly of me but...eh, what can you do. But this week I have come with a Sunday Swoons post! Sadly, Briana can't join in since she has no wi-fi. I think we need to send her kind thoughts and tons of virtual gifts to make up for that, don't you? No wi-fi. *shudders* Therefore, I shall be surging forward to host Sunday Swoons today. If you'd link up, it would make me and Briana very happy! (Or at least B will be when she finds out ;)) (You can find a more complete set of rules here .) Our topic...

Hello from the Innards of College

Image
As I write this it is almost ten minutes past one and I'm about to face-plant into my laptop from tiredness. The reason why I'm up so late? Well, I have four Two-Dimensional Art exercises due tomorrow (which I'm gonna add were given yesterday). I also had to take care of a weird credit card charge that hopefully will be resolved now that I've looked into it and cancelled the right things (once again, fingers crossed). I'm going home for the weekend because it's my dad's birthday. I don't usually get a ton of homework done at home...just because I'd rather be spending time with my family. So, one of my goals this week is to get almost all my homework done by early Friday afternoon. Honestly, though, I'm kinda sick and tired of the huge to-do lists, late nights, and early mornings. I'd rather talk about how, yeah my art supplies are flung everywhere on my half of the room and maybe even a little on my roomie's, but I've learned a ...

More Vlogs and Goodbye (for two weeks)

Image
I had loads of fun doing The Raven Boys vlog last time and I would love your feedback on it right here, if you don't mind. This is just so I can get a feel for how many people are actually benefiting or enjoying the vlogs I might do in the future. No pressure ;) Here's the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GHF9HZJ Thanks! Have some dessert.. I'm making myself hungry. *salivates* I'd better stop before I try to eat these delicious things off my screen. Also, I've decided to put Life of a Random on a very short hiatus. I need to pull back because my school year's winding down and I need to buckle down and do some intense studying. I say "short" because I should be back to posting regularly by the beginning of June or so. I'm really sorry but I need to concentrate on school (unfortunately). I'll still pop up around the blogosphere and comment on your blogs and I might post a couple posts here. DON'T FORGET ME. If y...
