Guest Post // Staying on Top of Reviewing

Image
When left to her own devices, Sophia naturally gravitates towards books. This has been proven through countless scientific studies. People in the "real world" know her as a pre-med chemistry major (who is obsessed with fiction reading). People in the "Internet world" know her as a reader of classics and YA (who also happens to be a chem nerd). Accost Sophia on Instagram , Twitter , Goodreads , and her blog, Ravens and Writing Desks! ~~~~ When Selena asked me to write about how I keep reviews coming even with a busy schedule, I kinda laughed. This post is evidence of my EXCELLENT planning skills – I kept promising Selena I’d write it and only now have finally gotten around to doing it ( Selena: aaand, I am just now posting this approximately 5 months later than I said I would. please forgive me of my sins. and my horrible memory ). And you somehow think that I am a good authority on maintaining a good posting schedule? Ha! However, I will try not ...

Chicago Road Trip | Meeting Sophia

Image
The K-pop concert was only one  of the exciting things I got to do in Chicago. I also met up with Sophia from Ravens and Writing Desks !! It was so much fun and I have pictures. ;) The Saturday after the K-Pop concert, I got up around 7:20 to get ready to meet up with Sophia at 8. The hotel room we stayed in was so. freezing. cold. And the blanket was kind of little for a full or queen or whatever size the bed was. My sister is a blanket-hogger. I never forgive people who steal sleep hours away from me. *villainous cackle* So, I got ready. Got dressed. Sophia and I had already been messaging back and forth, making sure we were still meeting up at the same time and telling each other what we were wearing so we wouldn't accidentally try to hug strangers. Sometimes my brain doesn't process picture to real-life transitions okay. My mom wanted to meet Sophia too so she went down to the hotel lobby with me. And, you know what, it wasn't hard to recognized ...

Life Update

Image
Hey, guys, thought I'd pop in and tell you that no, I haven't dropped off the edge of the world or been kidnapped or anything crazy. The truth (real and un-interesting) is that I've been freaking out and studying, simultaneously, because of a CLEP exam. It's tomorrow. *terrified screeches* The week after I take and hopefully pass my CLEP exam is also super busy for me since I have to get a load of school things done in about 3 and a half days before I head out with my family for our summer trip. !!!! This entails exciting things. It stars with "k" and ends with "pop." YUP. It's finally almost time to go see BTS (an awesome K-pop group that you should really check out) live . In Chicago. It will be a horrendously long road trip but it will be worth it. And because I'm a licensed driver I shall have to share the burden. >.< But again, worth it. Also, (yes there's more) I'll be meeting up Sophia from Ravens and Writing De...

Day 5 | Freshmen Assemble-Final Thoughts

Image
We have come to the end of Freshmen Assemble , and through this feature I'm so glad I got to know Sophia and Ashtyn better. They are some fabulous people and you should go check out their blogs immediately ;) Final thoughts...when I read that, I kinda tend to think that it's something about deep things. Like once-in-a-life-time revelations, or more practical thoughts on choices to make in high school. I am  going to throw in a few last minute tips because tips save lives (seriously). But I want this to be relaxed, chill....something you can just laugh at along with me if it's funny. Don't laugh if it's not.  Just don't.  But BESIDES that, have fun reading the little tidbits I'm going to take from stuff I typed on my computer or scribbled in my journal.  As an explanation, while I giggle at myself (even though the bathrooms still aren't too high on my "love" list), I have to use a community bathroom. It's the sho...

Day 4: The Day of Terror

Image
Me, being me, completely forgot to record in detail what happened today. Of course. Therefore, I will just have to recap as well as possible. To be honest, I'm writing this waaay after it actually happened because I completely and totally forgot about anything to do with blogging or things outside of school. Sorryyyy. My first class was at 9 AM but I woke up at 7 because I was freaked out about not being prepared and not counting enough time for the walking, since I was super smart about it and hadn't walked around campus beforehand. *smacks forehead* I was early for the class (Honors World Literature)! And there was this totally terrifying situation where all the chairs and tables were in a big circle. I was like, "Oh, no. This is not good." As is usual, unfortunately, when classes are just starting....we all had to introduce ourselves and tell a little bit about ourselves. I hate those kinds of things, BUT I had to do it two more times for my afternoon class...

Day 3: My Major of Choice

2014, Skylar Finn @Life of a Random. All images were created by me and may not be used without credit and permission.  I probably completely freaked you out yesterday when I went through some hardcore lists, buuut today you can relax. You've completely, totally got this. Just like I learned that I can do this.  Let me tell you a little story... when I was really little, my dad told me I had to know what I was going to do with the rest of my life by the time I was twelve. This freaked me out hugely . Looking back, I'm not sure if he was actually serious or just joking and serious little eight-year-old me couldn't tell. But it freaked me out. I didn't know what  I wanted to do! Are you kidding? That's like the hardest question in the world, or it was for me. When I turned twelve, I asked my dad if I still had to tell him what I wanted to do with my life and he said no I didn't. I was very ginormously relieved . As time went on (aka high school y...

Introducing: Freshmen Assemble

Image
I'm proud to introduce *drumroll* Freshmen Assemble  is a blog project that I thought of during the hectic process that is preparing-for-my-first-year-of-college. Basically, two other book bloggers and myself are going to write about our experiences related to college. When this project idea popped into my head, I literally couldn't get it out until I had typed down the (horrible) first version of rules and topics and sent a few emails out to other bloggers I knew  were headed for college this fall. Two of them replied and that's how this whole thing got started. They're awesome and I can't wait for you to meet them! I will be linking to their posts on each of my Freshmen Assemble posts (we will be covering the same general areas), so make sure to check them out and give them comment love. :) Introducing the participating bloggers: (Note: Links to the respective bloggers' blogs are in the Blogger Name @Blog Name ) When left to her own dev...
