The Rundown on My New Posting Schedule

It's that time of the year again. School. (It's actually slightly terrifying that I'm a sophomore already.)

Last school year really messed up my blogging flow. I had been getting into a good rhythm (summer of 2014), but moving to a new college (2 hours away from home I might add) and taking new classes-- It was stressful. And when I’m stressed out about school, reading is the furthest thing from my mind. I’m a nerd like that.

But blogging is a huge part of my life. It has been for the past few years. And I don’t want to stop anytime soon. SO, here’s my new plan that I will try my hardest to stick to. It involves a few, small changes.

1. I will now be posting, at the minimum, once a week. Now, if I have time I will try to slip in another post in the middle of the week around… say Wednesday. But that’s not a given. What IS going to happen is that there will be a post on the blog every Sunday.

2. Many of these posts will be pre-written and scheduled. In the past I haven’t done very many scheduled posts, but during the school year I’m busy and it’s necessary. However, when I schedule posts I tend to forget about them a little bit so there’s a possibility I will forget to tweet about it or something like that.

3. I’m going to be doing more vlogs (etc.) which I will always post on the blog too. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time but I have to work up the guts to actually talk to a camera without feeling awkward. I’ll probably do a “Here’s my YouTube channel. Watch it.” post sometime later this month or next month.

4. There's probably going to be an increase in guest posts. (P.S. If you want to write a guest post for my blog, I'm totally cool with that. You can either email me or get in touch on Twitter.)

Lastly, Life of a Random is still a book blog. AND an art blog. AND a k-pop blog etc. etc. Because that’s my life, and that’s what this blog is about. :)) I know I've changed my focus a bit since I started blogging here. That said, just because I’ve been increasing posts on other things besides books (like art and k-pop) doesn’t mean I’m going to stop posting about books. Books are a huge part of my life too. And I’m going to be figuring out a way to give all the parts of my life equal places on this blog. :)

I really hope this new plan of attack works for me and I hope you like it too! What are some strategies you use to help keep up with blogging or reading during the school year? Also, are there any specific videos you’d like me to do? It can literally be anything: k-pop reaction, tag, book review, apartment tour. *wiggles eyebrows*

  1. the way I'm planning on keeping up with my reading over the summer is the 30-min Rule. I try to turn off all electronic devices at least 30 minutes before going to bed and read a book to wind down instead. It seems to work--just don't read something really exciting and intense, lol--and it can help you fall asleep quicker I think.

    1. That's a great idea! I definitely need to try it out because I'm just awful at reading during the school year. My TBR pile needs A LOT of work. >.<

  2. Oooh I actually really like the idea of an apartment tour. DO THAT

Good luck with the school-scheduling-stuff. I'll be struggling right along with you haha :-)

    1. I SHALL DO THAT. As soon as I make everything pretty ;)

The struggles of college life man. XD I'm pretty bad at "scheduling" type stuff but I think I'm improving little by little. Good luck to you too!

  3. School is so inconvenient. I mean really. Homework? I have books to read! Books to write! And a blog to run!

Anyway, I'm sure you'll find a way through. I've been blogging for three years, with school getting busier and busier each year, and managed to keep going! Good luck!

    PS I'm a new follower :)

    1. Seriously. So much yuck. Who needs homework? Not me. I never realized how time consuming reading and reviewing was until I started college.

That's super encouraging :D Thank you!

(WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE. *waves madly* Old followers are awesome but it's so exciting to get new followers, especially when they comment :) )
