Life of a Random

To me, whenever I like a book so much that I want to curl up in a ball and hug it forever, it's because of the characters. The characters breathe life into the words. And when I get a story idea, it usually starts with a character. I am having so much fun writing for two characters in a co-written book-- If I Fall. It's really helped me mature with writing distinctive voices. I'm in the middle of a lovely, delicious vacation. I haven't done anything useful. Well, except for cleaning my room. I just wanted to do a short little post before I head back to my headphones and word document. I'm going to, at last, talk about writing. *gasp* I've always written. I think I started making handwritten "books" (meaning seven pages long with awful hand drawn covers) when I was seven or so. I can't remember exactly. But back then I finished most of my little stories and I took great pride in stapling them together and coloring in the pictures with marker (which I, to this day, still get all over my hands if I use them). Exhibit A- sorry for the neck-craning position...not sorry enough to fiddle around with it though ;)  Then there has been a long period of time where I haven't really finished any books at all. I just get an idea or a character and write about ten pages or so and leave off. It's not very encouraging...but ...

It's cold and dreary and rainy today. Which means the only thing I can do is stay inside on my computer (although I do that on sunny days as well). This is random, but I have only read one Sherlock Holmes mystery. I tried to read a whole book of them a while ago, but I lost interest and had to return it to the library. Never to try again. It's the thought that counts. Last night, I watched Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. I had watched it recently but I forgot how much dry humor it had. I laughed a lot! Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law do an awesome job, as do the rest of the cast.  I'm going to be using gifs a lot more often now. They describe things so much more adequately then words. For example, I can demonstrate that I reacted this way to most of the humor on A Game of Shadows... I know.  I don't know why I don't have a concussion.  Also, I will  post (eventually) about making those scarves. I just haven't taken all the d...

I guess you could say that this is just an update post on what's going on in my life. Ahem. Not much. I have read loads more books than I did for a while (mainly because my college class is already out for the semester!). And I got accepted into two colleges. Woop woop! Haha, yeah, I'm pretty psyched about it.  I got a book idea yesterday out of the blue (yeah, i know. I was shocked too). But I'm already working on two projects so I told myself that I would not  start any new books until I finish the ones I'm working on. To further force myself to leave that idea alone, I printed out the idea and summary, etc. and folded it up. I will be doing that to all the story ideas I get from this point on. And when I want a project to work on or inspiration, I will unfold one.  This unfolds into a paper box.
