Book Review // The Raven King (ALL HAIL)

Image
Nothing living is safe. Nothing dead is to be trusted. For years, Gansey has been on a quest to find a lost king. One by one, he’s drawn others into this quest: Ronan, who steals from dreams; Adam, whose life is no longer his own; Noah, whose life is no longer a lie; and Blue, who loves Gansey… and is certain she is destined to kill him. Now the endgame has begun. Dreams and nightmares are converging. Love and loss are inseparable. And the quest refuses to be pinned to a path. ** The blank spaces in between these [ ] are spoilers. Avoid at all costs. First the logistics of this wonder. It is written by Maggie Stiefvater, 439 pages of her skills. It was born on April 26, 2016 at a place called Scholastic Press. It's the fourth and final story. I'VE DONE IT. I've finished the final book in The Raven Cycle series.  It's been an amazing trip (even though I'm sad it's over) and The Raven King was no less amazing. There...

June Recap

Image
Hi, peeps. June has come to an end. The whole summer is passing way to fast in my humble opinion but at least some really cool things happened this month. I went to Taiwan for a couple weeks, I helped out the honors program at my college as a Big Sib for a little while... aaand now I'm back to studying for an exam. Which kind of ends up on the not cool side of things but eh.  Who can tell. If it helps me gain 8 credits I'm up for it ;) I'm SOO happy because do you know how many books I read this month??? NINE. I haven't read that many books in a month in aaages. I feel so accomplished.   And even better, all of the books were pretty good. There was nothing below three stars which I call a win.  The Emperor's Edge Series (Books 1-7) by Lindsay Buroker. This only links to the first book! (one of the best imo) Yes, I binge-read a whole series. No, I'm not sorry. ^^ One of the three-star books was in this one but the rest were...

April Books Recap

Image
Now April has ended...I'm in the final stretch of senior year (in high school). It will be a relief when school's done and I can focus on getting ready for college. I've chosen which college I'm going to by the way. :) And I'm going to stay in the dorms, so you can expect some "a day in the life" posts. But the purpose of this post is to tell you all about the twenty books few books I read. I didn't read a crazy amount. It was really quite pitiful, but I am happy that I didn't read less than last month. How many books did I read in April? Eight. And it is the same amount as I read in March considering I counted a book I DNF'd in March (sorry). 6 YA novels and 2 adult.  Favorite?  Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay. I was mindblown and hungover after I read it. Just. Urngh. FEELS. The premise was so unique, as a paranormal Romeo & Juliet (sort of) re-telling. Except it's not. It's extremely one-of-a-kind and I loved Juliet....

Flash Review: The Raven Boys & The Dream Thieves

Image
There is something to be said for hardbacks. I admit that I don't love them as much as I used to and I even usually prefer paperbacks (*cough* cheaper *cough*). But, gosh, The Raven Cycle books are gorgeous in hardback. So, I think I've added something to my bookish bucket list- I need (read: want) to get all of the books in hardback format. End of discussion. On other topics though, I've decided to review The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves in one post which means I've also decided to introduce something called a "flash review" (in honor of flash fiction). Basically, a flash review is just a really short review. I don't know if other book blogs have used this term or not, so it's not my intention to steal anybody's ideas. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater My sister got me a paperback copy of The Raven Boys for my birthday. :D So, thank you SO much again, Tansie Gray . ;) I loved it. Everything about it was amazing, and now I w...

March Books Recap

Image
Today I tallied up this month's reads and winced at the pitiful, scraggy list. I don't know what it's been lately, school stress, preparing for college in the fall...I haven't been able to read at my usual speed. Hopefully, I'll be able to read more as summer comes closer. Summer break. Ah. Just think of the books I'll be able to cross off my TBR list. *PICTURE OF ALL THE BOOKS I READ TO COME* How many books did I read in March? *sigh* 9. And that's counting a novella and a book I DNF'd. Eight YA novels and one adult. Favorite? Definitely The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. The characters were awesomely quirky, the plot and premise were unique and awesome. And the way the lives of all the characters were entwined was mind-blowing. It's like seeing a close-up of a maze, and slowly the camera pans out and you understand . I loved the main character, Blue.  Least Favorite? Well, I DNF'd As I Wake by Elizabeth Scott so....

Raven Boys + Second Chances

I am forfeiting time reading The Raven Boys to write this post for you guys. Appreciation is in order, I think. :D (Seriously, though. How awesome is The Raven Boys ?? No spoilers please.) So, as stated above, I'm currently reading The Raven Boys , I started it after admiring the cover and stroking it. All the normal stuff. It is blowing my expectations away! It's amazing and there will be a review. I'm thinking about doing a post on stereotyping bookworms . What do you think? I also have this extremely nasty lemon/honey drink that I'm procrastinating on drinking. It's sitting very evilly at the corner of my desk. I can smell it even though it's cold.  I also visited an online book store called The Book Outlet today, and I shouldn't have. I now want to buy more books (well, more than before). It has destroyed my life.  I splurged on a  ten-dollar book that I love, but now I'm feeling sort of guilty-ish because maybe I should have used those t...
