Artist Spotlight: Natacha

Artist Spotlight is a brand-new feature that I'm going to be doing on here every once in a while that spotlights an artist (probably one that is relatively new or undiscovered) and shows off their amazing art work. Whenever possible, I will attach links to the websites where these artists display their art skills. Make sure to check them out and show them some love!

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from? Do you like chocolate (The right answer is yes)?

YES, dark chocolate for me! Haha, on a more serious term, I was born in Montreal, grew up in Costa Rica, and currently study in the UK.

What kind of art do you do?

Currently I'm studying Graphic Design, but I'm a huge doodler-- can't have a pen without my hand itching to draw. I really like painting with oils or doing some print making if I have some free time.

How long have you been doing it? Have you always done the same kind?

I'm halfway through my second year in a Graphic Design degree. I took up oil painting and print making in high school, but I've been drawing and doodling ever since I can remember.

What's your favorite type of arting (in your field) to do?

I'm a huge bookworm, so my favorite type of arting in my field is book design. I'm always trying to think up of ways I'd design the covers for the books I read. A designer I look up to a lot is Chip Kidd, I think the way he interprets a book's essence in the cover is brilliant.

When you just started, was there anything really tough or frustrating about learning how to do certain things?

Definitely. Everything new you start will be tough and hard work, I think it's all about practice and perseverance to get it right. And loads of attention to detail.

What do you do to brainstorm ideas?

I'm a fan of mind maps for brainstorming. I tend to write down the theme on a blank sheet of paper and take 30 seconds to write as many thoughts that come to mind -the stranger, the better!

(Skylar: That's a great idea! I need to try that sometime.)

Here's one of Natacha's works (which is amazing by the way, Natacha):

I hope you liked reading a little bit about someone else who's pursuing a graphic art degree. :)) I know I had fun getting to know Natacha. We met on Goodreads over a mutual love of books and art! Which is cool. Super cool.

If you want to find out more about Natacha or see more of her art, you can check out the links below:

On a side note, what do you guys think of the new "intro" graphics I've been adding to my latest posts? Would you like to see more of them? Also, my K-Pop concert recap (BTS) video is finally up which you should totally check out. :)
