Top Ten Covers I'd Frame as Pieces of Art

Image
The time has come for the fantastic weekly meme Top Ten Tuesday aka TTT over at The Broke and the Bookish . When I saw the topic for this week's TTT, I was so excited! But then depression set in because how. How was I supposed to choose ten (only ten) covers? Well, I did it. Finally. So, in no particular order, I give you: Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard   This cover is exquisite. I'm pretty sure it's digitally created (LOVE) and the dress is amazing and the lace on her arms...ugh, I need it please. Also, if you look closely there are gears in the background-- everything a steampunk cover should be. Shatter Me, Unravel Me, and Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi            There is no way this list would be complete with these gorgeous covers. And, yes, I'm counting all three as one. By the way, did you notice that in Shatter Me the eye is crying really hard, in Unravel Me there's only a lone teardrop...

The Raven Boys Vlog

Hopping back on here real quick to say that yes I have finally finished editing the vlog I promised you. :) *fist pump* Here it is. Hope you like it. Hope you think it's funny. And sorry for the bad quality... For awesomeness! UPDATE: Okay. For some reason, my computer hates me and I couldn't find my vlog on YouTube (through Blogger). So, boo Youtube. Eugh. Here's the link. Do any of you know what might be going wrong and what's causing the disappearance of my vlog from YouTube?? I will give you chocolate if you know.

6 Bookworm Cliches (And How They're So False It Isn't Even Funny)

Image
This is a post where I will be de-mything the oh-so-mysterious bookworms who live everywhere only some people don't know that because of the cloud of bookworm cliches floating around the world. (I'm practicing my metaphors, okay? Gosh.) Note: This is meant to be exaggerated a little bit for comedic relief, that is-- "hilarious." Because I like being hilarious. On the other hand, these cliches do make an appearance and are meant that way, that is "seriously", as well. 1. Not every bookworm wears glasses. I know this may come as a shock but we don't all wear glasses. I know, I know. You have been lied to. Poor baby. It turns out that some of us wear glasses, some of us wear contacts, and some of us don't need things like that because we have 20-20 vision. *snaps fingers in Z-formation* I'm sorry you had to learn it this way...will chocolate help? (Chocolate helps with everything) You should probably get used to it though because I've h...

April Books Recap

Image
Now April has ended...I'm in the final stretch of senior year (in high school). It will be a relief when school's done and I can focus on getting ready for college. I've chosen which college I'm going to by the way. :) And I'm going to stay in the dorms, so you can expect some "a day in the life" posts. But the purpose of this post is to tell you all about the twenty books few books I read. I didn't read a crazy amount. It was really quite pitiful, but I am happy that I didn't read less than last month. How many books did I read in April? Eight. And it is the same amount as I read in March considering I counted a book I DNF'd in March (sorry). 6 YA novels and 2 adult.  Favorite?  Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay. I was mindblown and hungover after I read it. Just. Urngh. FEELS. The premise was so unique, as a paranormal Romeo & Juliet (sort of) re-telling. Except it's not. It's extremely one-of-a-kind and I loved Juliet....

Review: A Spy in the House

Image
About time I posted something, I think. I have been HUGELY busy (yes that is a thing) because it's coming down to the wire in my sociology class, in other words-- finals. Yikes! My final paper is sitting to my right. I'm scared of reading through it one last time because *pauses to collect myself* editing. If I find one comma wrong, I cannot stop myself from re-printing the entire paper. EDIT: I did find a mistake and I did reprint a whole page. School makes me grumpy. Today, my peeps, I give you a review. I also want to talk really quickly about the books I review on Life of a Random . First of all, I've never really stated specifically what I review but I focus almost completely on YA fiction, narrowing it further down to dystopian, sci-fi, and fantasy usually. However, I read in all types of genera so you can expect a historical YA fiction once in a while or a biography, or etc. etc. Also, I'm a reviewer for Bethany House now so you can probably expect one Ch...

A Trip to the Ol' Library

Image
Well, no, our library isn't that ancient. I just thought it made the title sound more poetic. I haven't written a library haul in a long time, mainly because I haven't actually gone to the library in ages and have been existing solely on books I've bought and books I've borrow from the e-Library. Today was a beautiful (little bit cloudy) day and our whole family went to the our little local library together which was fun. :) But, guys. I fangirled/whatever-you-call-it-when-the-love-of-books-makes-you-hyperventilate when I saw that this, our small town library, had a gazillion books that are currently very popular and on my TBR list. I almost couldn't handle it. I was SO tempted to walk out of there with half the YA section. However, I exercised enormous restraint and only borrowed six (see? I'm very responsible). Five of those are ones I will be able to cross of my TBR list when I finish! *happy dance* I'm going to list these from the bottom ...
