20 Tips For Teenage Girls (Pt. 1)

I am so  sorry for not posting in ages. I'm gonna blame school ;)  1. Start a blog like mwah. You'll have fun designing it, coming up with a cool name, and looking at the stats at the end of the month. (although there is the possibility of having zero followers, also like me) 2. Join an online art community. There are tons of them, and most of them cost zilch to join. If you don't have anything to put up, no worries. You can use your account to comment and favorite. And moan about how you'll never be as good as any of the artists. Yes, I speak from personal experience. 3. Dig into your family's history. It is  hard to do because lots of the best sites require a monthly subscription. I, having no income, cannot afford it. If you don't have an income either, avoid sites like Ancestry.com, because they will tantalize you with just enough facts (that line up with your family facts) so that you're way too excited for your own good, then slap you in the...

Test Results

Image
I took my Compass exam today around lunch time. If you've never heard of it, it's a college-qualifying exam that you can take in the place of a regular standardized entrance exam. My test had three parts: reading, writing, and math. It took me about an hour and forty minutes to do everything (including checking things twice). AND I DID GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very happy with the results. I was so happy at my local community college that I smiled at strangers *gasp*. I then went outside and called my mom so she could come pick me up. Right after that my dad called and I told him the awesome news. :) (Sorry. I can't stop smiling...Even virtually) I really had to go bathroom then (after sitting in the test room for a while), but I didn't want to go back inside because the guy at the front desk had just said "congratulations!" and given me my papers and stuff. And it might be awkward if I came back in like five minutes later just to go bathroom. Yes, I k...

Shadowhunters

I discovered the world of the Shadowhunters (I'm sorry but am I the only one, out of all you who have watched the movie trailer, who imagines Madame Dorothea's voice saying it every  time?) after I saw the trailer for the movie (City of Bones: The Mortal Instruments). And boy did I get into something. Reading these books are like stepping into a whole nother world for me where Nephilim teenage girls and guys my age fight to protect humans (or mundanes) from demons and mundanes discover hidden gifts and ancient runes drawn on skin protect and heal. Gahh! I can't even begin  to describe how awesome it is. And then when I reach the last page (and read it twice, by the way), I sort of absent-mindedly flip through the rest of the pages: the acknowledgements, the historical notes, the author's note. And I'm in a daze for the rest of the day just running over the events again and again. I've read books 1-3 in the Mortal Instruments series and book 1 of the Infernal...

Library Visits

Image
I don't know what's happened, but recently it seems like the library has a lot more new books in the young adult section. Or maybe I just didn't read the same genres. I can't really remember, but ever since I discovered *jazz hands* dystopian and fantasy....it's been great!!! I never really loved  contemporary fiction anyways. As you can probably guess, I paid another visit to the library. ;) This time I got a GIGANTIC pile of books. I'm talking like ten or so (i still have some from last  time). Yeah. It's a disease. I'm gonna keep posting these types of posts once in a while because I've discovered a lot of great books that way on other blogs. My dream for a while has been to have my own personal library. And something I do (which might sound stupid) is I think about which books I would take with me if the world was ending like that black guy (the scientist) from the movie 2012. It's a pretty tough question, at least to me, because these bo...

Weekend Thoughts

So I watched the movie Hiding in Plain Sight  with my family today. It's about different families who are having a rough time financially and about different people who help them. I'm not talking a little rough, I'm talking homeless rough. When I watch movies like these, I look around at my house and think "I am SO lucky to have everything that I have."  Isn't it funny how we judge people by how they look?  Yeah. On another topic, I've been reading and lately I've discovered The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare and I'm really excited about reading everything and watching the movie. Also, I'm reworking characters and plot for a story idea I have.  I am not good with coming up with action. Or a plot. I usually start a book with a character. It's just hard to find something original that's all you and tell the story you want to tell without accidently copying another  book that's already been published....

Big News

Result of an experiment :) The picture above is the result of me following @lifehacks on twitter. Best decision I've ever made (just kidding, but it's really neat). They have lots of other cool tips and stuff to check out. I took this picture by cutting a tiny heart out of a circle of cardboard and taping the cardboard circle to the camera lens. I think I should cut the heart smaller next time... but it turned out pretty well. :) Also, I have some great news for you!! For all of you who've been reading my blog since it started, you know that I've been going through the process of completing the admissions process into a local community college for dual-enrollment. Today I opened my email and... *drumroll* I've been accepted!!! I'm really happy that that part is done and I can start worrying about other things, lol. How 'bout a list today? 1. My little brother is the noisiest toy player in the world. I'm pretty sure people on the other side of ...

Reserved List

I have read many books, and I have always been a total bookworm from the time I started reading. Proof: six years ago my family and I lived in a different state and I easily read 100 books each year of the almost two we lived there. Easily. Now I've finally caught on to the Goodreads trend and made an account. It's so handy! I can add different books to my read, to-read, or customized bookshelf. It's a reader's/list-maker's paradise. There are several dystopian/fantasy books I've wanted to read for a long time and I'm getting some of that reading done this summer. I just got another pile of books I reserved at the library today. City of Bones (Bk. 1, The Mortal Instruments) by Cassandra Clare Insurgent (Bk. 2, Divergent Trilogy) by Veronica Roth Scarlet  (Bk. 2, The Lunar Chronicles) by Marissa Meyer Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas I've already read Divergent (Bk.1) by Veronica Roth and Cinder (Bk.1) by Marissa Meyer. Both of them wer...
