Poll Time

I'm popping a super important quiz on you today. Be prepared for doom and sadness. Nahhh, just kidding. I'm actually  just posting a quick poll on here today because I'm super curious about when you read my posts. I went to a small business seminar this spring when I was at college and it really posed some interesting facts and questions about social networking. Apparently, the time I post and where I post affects things more than I would've thought. So if you have time, please please please  take a few seconds to answer this poll. It would make me so happy *flutters eyelashes* and also I offer virtual chocolate. Yeah. That's right baby. Create your own user feedback survey

55 Quirky Questions for Readers (Pt. 1)

Image
I discovered this questionnaire at Cait and Mime's blog The Notebook Sisters , where I learned that the origin of these questions is most likely here . Thanks for bringing this awesomesauce questionnaire to my attention, Notebook Sisters! You guys need to check out their post . It's hilarious. I'm going to follow their lead because fifty-five questions is WAY too many to post at one time. So here's the first half... *drumroll* 1. Favourite childhood book: Unfortunately, I don't remember childhood reading too well. :/ But probably, all the horse books by Marguerite Henry and the American Girl books, especially the Kit Kittredge ones. :)  2. What are you reading right now? I'm in between books! So nothing right now. Even though I have a Mount Everest of books waiting to be read. 3. What books do you have on request at the library? Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins and Splintered by A.G. Howard. I've heard they're good. ;) 4. Bad book habi...

Back Between Pages

I am now back into my regular reading and posting swing so I'm going to catch you all up on what's been going on in my world. Juliet Immortal by Stacey Jay I've already read this! I finished it and decided that I absolutely had to own it. It's a hauntingly beautiful read with the best ending ever. It's about Romeo and Juliet, except, now . In our time. In other words, AWESOMESAUCE.   Amplified by Tara Kelly Cover. Look at that COVER. Please, take your time. ;) Besides that...I, um, vaguely remembered seeing it before and thinking it sounded interesting. It's about a girl joining an all-guy band. And rooming with them. Interesting? I think so. Entice (Need #3) by Carrie Jones I bought Captivate (the second book in the series) a while ago and loved it. The whole pixie thing in our modern world was so interesting, and it totally helped that the main character Zara was completely awesome.  I'm reading a few books right now if "a few" m...

Flipping Virtual Pages

This is the February recap and as you can tell from this post's title, I've pretty much been existing solely on e-books. I miss going to the real  library with its stuffy, musty smell and running my fingers over the book spines in their tidy rows, but there hasn't been much time this month because of a lot of school-related and weather-related stuff. So ebooks it is! Guys. I'm not going to pass up an opportunity to read. Ever. Here's where I tell you that I haven't read as many books as I did in January and looking back I must have been reading freakishly lots and freakishly fast. I'm still going to babble about the books I've read this month though. You cannot escape. Mwahahaha. How many books did I read in February? 12. Eight YA novels, two adult, and two middle-grade to YA crossovers. Favorite? I'm going to say Dust Girl (by Sarah Zettel) just because I've been reading so much dystopian lately and it was a very unique fantas...

Book Haul + My First Guest Post (!)

Image
Guys, guys, guys, guys. I did my very first guest post at Tansie Gray's blog Totally Tansie  and it was awesome collaborating with her! Tansie's blog is full of hilarious book reviews, rants, and writing tips. I had a great time writing the post: "10 Ways to Make Your Sister Mad"  I'd love it if you could pop over to Totally Tansie and check it out (And maybe leave a comment. Hint, hint). [][][][][][][][] I also went to my favorite used-books store last Sunday. I didn't get as many books as usual...Not many YA novels *gasp*. I felt unfulfilled. But I didn't want to spend what the books cost, so I snatched a few middle-grade types.  1. Princess Sonora and the Long Sleep by Gail Carson Levine A short fairytale re-telling of Sleeping Beauty in a funny, simple way. It's very  short. 107 pages short. 2.   The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan Book 2 of the Percy Jackson series! Now I can finally read it and see how it measures up to th...

What I've Been Reading

Image
I'm sort of borrowing this idea from Cait ( Notebook Sisters ). On one of her recent posts, she had a little slice of the post that told how many books she read in January (and how many of those were YA and middle grade), which one was her favorite, and which one was her least favorite. What I'm gonna do is recap in more detail and blah, blah, blah.  Besides being neat in general (because I'm awesome like that), it's going to help me remember more stuff about what I've read through the year. I have bad memory, okay? How many books did I read in January? 21! Around three were middle grade (I'm saying around because some of them sort of straddle the line I think), two adult, and the rest were YA. Favorite?  I don't even know. There were so many great ones! But if I had to pick, it would be The Girl in the Steel Corset  by Kady Cross. Least Favorite? Louder Than Words by Laurie Plissner or I Want to Live by Lurlene McDaniel. Favorite Cover(s)? Y...

Sophisticated Sunday

There is something so good about being surrounded by books and breathing in their musty smell. Something comforting about cuddling up in an old (and I mean very old) recliner with a warm spot of yellow light shining on you, just losing yourself in a novel. I've read a lot since the beginning of the year (eighteen books) and I'm eight books ahead of schedule in my 2014 Reading Challenge on Goodreads. Woohoo! I haven't been writing as much as I should be recently....I'm trying to get back into my writing groove, but it's hard with Facebook, Pinterest, and all that awesome light  stuff that's so easy to spend hours in.  I have three WIPs (works in progress): Eye of the Phoenix (a novel), If I Fall (a novella which is slowly turning into a novel with the help of my speedy co-writer), and I Remember (working title for a short, few-thousand-words story based on a dream I had that I can't forget).  Right now I'm focusing on getting I Rememb...
